Frankincense Oil

Frankincense Oil is extracted from the resin of Boswellia serrata, the Indian frankincense tree, which is widely cultivated across Madhya Pradesh. The resin forms as the tree seals a cut in its own bark, hardening into the amber-coloured tears that are collected and then extracted.

We extract using supercritical CO2 (SCFE) rather than steam distillation. The practical difference is in the aroma: CO2 extraction works at low temperature and pulls a fuller picture of the resin, so the oil keeps both the brighter top notes and the deeper, heavier base notes that heat tends to strip out. The result is warm, resinous, and slightly woody, with a dry, faintly pine-like lift at the top.

Perfumers use it as much for structure as for scent; frankincense is a well-regarded fixative, helping hold a composition together and giving it staying power. Beyond perfumery, it's used in aromatherapy blends, incense, and skincare preparations.
